Entrance exam:

1.  Can you spell  R-I-N-K-A-B-Y?

2.  Is Rinkaby fun and legal?

If you answered, "Yes" to both questions, you qualify to know more about 2011's

WORLD SCOUT JAMBOREE!

Rinkaby in southern Sweden July 27 - August 7, 2011 becomes home to 30,000+ Scouts from six continents and 114 countries during the 22nd World Scout Jamboree.

Yes, R-I-N-K-A-B-Y is the location. It's also the time and place for making life-long connections with people from around the globe who, like you, value the principles of Scouting's Oath and Law.

...and it's been done before. Twice before. The last two National Jamborees took place on the fields of Rinkaby in Sweden, which is not all that far from Copenhagen, Denmark. These folks know how to do a Jamobree up right!

Cost? Oh, it's significant. The $3,750. payment covers Jamboree fees, the plane ride, FOOD, the tent over your head, and other equipment. Expect to spend additional dollars for uniform requirements, pre-Jamboree camp fees, a passport, and mementos of the trip.

Even considering currency differences, you may or may not feel better about Jambo costs when comparing our fees with payments for scouts from down under. From the Australian Jamboree FAQ page: "What does it cost and what is the payment schedule? $6550 for 3 weeks, plus approx $1600- $1800 for the 1 week post Jamboree optional tour."

There are Scout-like expectations for behavior at Rinkaby as well. A Code of Conduct, a Statement of Understanding, a Payment Schedule, and Medical Requirements must be agreed to and followed.

Acting like a Scout. Is this a Big Deal? Probably NOT. BSA standards are nothing new to Trailblazer scouts and following the Scout Oath and Law is no different when you're in Sweden.

To take part in an event this exciting requires a lot of planning. Start by gathering information, knowing you're going to Sweden to sleep in a tent next July. Know you'll spend many days with some of the finest folks on the planet. Here are some links to begin the Jambo Journey:

A YouTube video . . about preparing Rinkaby

"In this movie, you are introduced to some of the preparations for the 22nd World Scout Jamboree camp site in Rinkaby, Sweden. Roads, electricity, water supply, communications and other forms of infrastructure are prepared for the jamboree in 2011."
